About Us

We breed Pack Goats and manufacture backcountry Goat Packing Equipment in Mountain Home, Idaho. Hiking with goats is our lifestyle and we have thousands of trail miles worth of experience to show for it. We are also proud members of the North American Packgoat Association and I have served on their Board since 2019. I encourage all goat packers and those interested in getting started to join at NAPgA.org. Putnam Pack Goats has donated $4425 to NAPgA from gear sales and equipment donations since we started building gear in 2023. 

Our special SaberPine pack cross is a mix of Sable Saanen, Boer, and Alpine. We have 5 generations of Pack crosses at our farm with all of our retired breeding bucks continuing to prove themselves in our pack string. Dozens of the goats we have produced are now packing in strings all over the Northwest. Pack babies are typically born in February. We sell them for $550 each and they are weaned, vaccinated, banded (optional) and available for pickup starting May 15th. Doelings and occasionally moms with babies are also available by special request. We are currently taking reservations for 2025 babies. We require a current NAPgA membership ($25) with all goat purchases.
